Start of production in autumn - 30 new jobs
The new KÖNIG building is making visible progress.
The shell construction phase was completed without a proper topping-out ceremony due to the pandemic, but the construction progress is proceeding according to plan. "We assume that production will start in the third quarter," said Oliver Rokohl, Managing Director at KÖNIG, confidently.
This year, König is driving the expansion of the special profiles area with record investments of over 10 million euros.
In the first construction phase, a 3,500 m² production and storage hall, additional traffic and storage areas in the outside area of around 10,000 m² as well as a two-story office and social building will be built. "Some trades for the technical building equipment are currently actively supported by our skilled workers from the personnel services business area. The essential materials for the interior fittings naturally come from our own house - in particular wall and ceiling profiles, accessories and ceiling panels made of metal, ”says Rokohl. KÖNIG manufactures these products in the Moringer main plant in Nienhagener Strasse. "And the packaging systems for the profiles are also designed and manufactured in the company's own plant construction."
Production in the new plant will initially be expanded with two new profiling systems, thus doubling the capacity in the product area of customer-specific steel profiles. Customers come from a wide range of industries, such as the automotive, transport, agriculture and construction sectors, shopfitting, home and air conditioning technology, mechanical engineering and equipment for renewable energies. In addition to state-of-the-art machine technology, another key element of the expansion investment is the sophisticated factory logistics. A gantry crane with a span of 36 meters and a lifting capacity of 8 tons as well as other gantry cranes on the systems ensure smooth material supply and efficient set-up processes.
Here, all processes from raw material to finished product were precisely analyzed and optimized in process simulations. The first construction phase alone will create around 30 new jobs this year. "Regardless of the current difficult economic situation, we have a firm eye on the next stages of expansion," explains Gerd-Hinrich Döscher, owner of the group. With the expansion of the market position, an additional hall complex for additional production capacities is to be created in the coming years.
